How many times do you love intensely in life? Study reveals the average figure

If a person fell madly in love before, the chances of experiencing it again are slim, according to concluyeron American psychologists from the Kinsey Institute, after calculating the average passionate love experiences throughout a human life. Researchers surveyed 10,036 single adults between 18 and 99 years old in the United States. They were asked the same question: "How many times in your life have you been passionately in love?" On average, adults reported having experienced passionate love approximately twice in their lives (2.05 times).

It should be noted that 14% had never experienced passionate love; while 28% experienced it once; 30%, twice; 17%, three times and 11% had experienced it four or more times.

"People constantly talk about falling in love, but this is the first study that really asks how many times that happens throughout life," said Amanda Gesselman, a scientist at the Kinsey Institute and lead author of the study published in the journal Interpersona: An International Journal on Personal Relationships. "For most people, passionate love turns out to be something that happens only a few times throughout life," she emphasized.

Researchers also studied passionate love experiences across different demographic groups. In this case, the differences were minimal, but it was found that older adults experienced passionate love more frequently than young adults. This, according to researchers, suggests that love transcends all ages and can manifest even in old age.
