Santo Domingo.– A few hours before the New Year, alcoholic beverage vendors in the Villa Juana sector are preparing to receive customers who traditionally go to these establishments to see the year out. During a tour conducted by De Último Minuto, it was observed that the owners of grocery stores, drink shops, and bars were stocking their freezers with beers, rum, and other beverages, hoping that sales would pick up in the coming hours. Some merchants claimed that sales have been slow during this year, attributing it to the economic situation and lower consumption by customers.

“One of the worst Christmases we've had here is this one, we are not even prepared because there is no life,” expressed Deiby, owner of a grocery store in the area.

However, other vendors stated that the movement has been positive and that they expect a significant increase on the night of December 31st. "I've seen it well... sales have been good," commented Israel Manzanillo. It was also found that from early hours there are already people consuming alcoholic beverages in several of these establishments, while the festive atmosphere begins to be felt in the popular capital sector.
