The Congress of the Republic has convened an Extraordinary Plenary Session for this Tuesday, February 17, in which the motion of censure presented against the interim president José Jerí will be debated, after the correction of observations in the initial initiative.
The call was announced by Fernando Rospigliosi, acting president of Congress, who pointed out that the motion now meets the formal requirements and has the 78 necessary signatures to be admitted for debate, in accordance with the Congress Regulations.
During the session, lawmakers will evaluate the arguments of the motion, which questions the ethical, political, and institutional suitability of the interim president and raises, if approved, the possibility of declaring the vacancy of the position and appointing a successor according to current regulations.
