The Empresa Distribuidora de Electricidad del Este, S.A. (EDEEste), accumulates the largest amount of unserved power, that is, to users, far exceeding Edesur and Edenorte. According to the statistics of the electrical system, Edeeste accumulates about 422.8 MW as of August 19, 2025. The 422.8 MW accumulated by Edeeste are 343.3 MW more than the 79.5 MW accumulated by Edesur, and 398 MW more than the 24.8 MW accumulated by Edenorte. This situation occurs at times when users demand a greater amount of energy, due to the hot season. On August 3rd, the National Interconnected Electrical System (SENI) reached a new historical record of supplied demand, with a peak of 3,896.10 megawatts (MW), at 10:00 p.m. this Friday. What is unserved power? The power not served by the EDES (Electricity Distribution Companies) refers to the electrical energy that, for various reasons, does not reach consumers despite being available in the electrical system. Among the main causes are: scheduled or corrective maintenance, problems in the distribution and transmission of energy, generation failures, and losses in the system.
