Santo Domingo.- The
Empresa Distribuidora de Electricidad del Este (Edeeste) continues to advance in its process of
technological modernization through the implementation of the
Sistema de Medición Concentrada en Altura (SMCA), an innovative solution aimed at
optimizing management of the electricity supply, improving the
quality of service and strengthening the
control of energy consumption in its concession area.
Currently, the company has
106,919 integrated clients in this system, distributed in strategic areas where its installation has been prioritized to reduce losses, improve measurement, and guarantee
greater stability in the electrical service.
The SMCA is part of an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) that allows for the management of the electrical supply remotely, facilitating processes such as reading, connecting and disconnecting the service without the need for field intervention. This technology offers real-time information, improves the accuracy of billing and allows for the timely detection of failures or irregularities.
As part of its benefits, the system incorporates a
display or visible panel that allows customers to
monitor their electricity consumption in real time, promoting a
more efficient use of energy and encouraging savings.
Edeeste calls on citizens to
not allow the manipulation of these devices by unauthorized persons. The system has
security mechanisms that, in the event of any attempt at alteration, are automatically activated, causing the interruption of service in the community where it is installed, as a
protective measure. Therefore, users are urged to safeguard these infrastructures, whose correct operation benefits everyone.
Likewise, the SMCA allows remote reconnection of the service,
significantly reducing waiting times for customers and
optimizing operational resources of the company, by reducing the need for technical teams to travel.
In that same order, Edeeste advances in the massification of the
prepaid system through this technology, facilitating access to customers who do not have a traditional payment culture or are not accustomed to conventional billing. As part of this strategy, the company
expands its recharge channels to guarantee greater
accessibility, convenience and efficiency in the service.
Similarly, the company projects a significant expansion of this system through programs developed with
multilateral organizations and its own projects focused on reducing losses. These initiatives include the incorporation of
more than 20,000 new customers in the short term under the concentrated height measurement scheme, strengthening the
control of consumption, operational efficiency and sustainability of the electrical system.
Edeeste reaffirms its commitment to
innovation and continuous improvement of the service, incorporating technologies that contribute to
sustainable development and the well-being of its clients.
