Santo Domingo.- The families of Greater Santo Domingo and the province of Puerto Plata who were affected by the heavy floods are beginning to regain their tranquility, after the Dominican Government, through the Directorate of Social Assistance and Community Food (DASAC), began the implementation of the second phase of the emergency protocol.

From the early hours of this Wednesday, DASAC units moved to the Bride of the Atlantic to begin the delivery of household goods to the affected families.

Similarly, hundreds of families from the Nuevo Amanecer neighborhood, at kilometer 18 of the Duarte highway, Los Alcarrizos municipality, receive beds, refrigerators, stoves, washing machines, televisions, living room and dining room sets, gas cylinders, among other items, as they had requested from President Luis Abinader Corona, during his tour of this sector.

"I had my little house, the river got in and took my bed, washing machine, stove and refrigerator, but now I feel happy because I will be able to sleep more peacefully thanks to the Government," said Santa Medina, a testimony that is repeated in multiple expressions of gratitude for the intervention. In the same way, doña Juana narrated how she managed to survive the surprising floods that affected all her belongings.

The director of DASAC, Edgar Augusto Félix Arbona, indicated that, in addition to these actions, the institution simultaneously maintains permanent operations for the delivery of cooked food and raw rations, which is added to a direct evaluation to continue bringing comprehensive solutions to the affected families.

"We are firmly committed to assisting every family in need, as instructed by our President Luis Abinader, who has been very attentive from day one to ensure that the helping hand of the Government reaches every affected Dominican home," said the official.

As part of the follow-up to this second phase, DASAC will continue to be deployed in the affected areas, ensuring that assistance reaches them in a timely and dignified manner, until the progressive recovery of the families affected by this phenomenon is achieved.
