SANTO DOMINGO.- Luismal Ferreiras was selected as the Player of the Week 1 of The Super League of the LNB, after his solid performance between the 14th and 19th of this month.

In the three victories of the Gigantes Basketball Club, Ferreiras averaged 20.6 points, grabbed 12.0 rebounds and blocked 1.6 per game, shooting 60 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line. His best game was last April 15th against the Leones de Santo Domingo at the San Carlos Club, where he scored 30 points, shot 15-18 from the field and grabbed 12 rebounds, 7 of them offensive. Journalists covering the first division circuit favored Ferreiras with 32 of the 78 votes cast, surpassing the 27 obtained by Charles Brown Jr., also from the Giants. Brown Jr. also had an outstanding performance, with 27.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 3.3 steals and 53 percent from the field. Reggie Quezada (19), from the Leones, also received votes, after averaging 29.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in two matches with his team (1-1).
