Chris Evans (Captain America) is expected to participate in at least one of the two films.
Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will have to wait a little longer to see their favorite superheroes back on the big screen, as Marvel Studios announced the postponement of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Originally scheduled to be released on May 1, 2026, Avengers: Doomsday will now arrive in theaters on December 18 of that same year. For its part, Avengers: Secret Wars is delayed from May 7, 2027 to December 17, 2027. These changes respond to adjustments in the filming schedule, still ongoing, and Marvel's intention to avoid past mistakes related to rushed schedules.

During an extensive livestream in March, Marvel revealed part of the cast of Doomsday, which will include both classic MCU actors and characters from Fox's defunct X-Men universe. In addition, new figures from the upcoming film Fantastic Four: First Steps and characters from Thunderbolts will appear.
Despite the change, Disney will not release the coveted date of May 1, 2026. Instead, it will premiere The Devil Wears Prada 2, sequel to the successful 2006 comedy, under the 20th Century Studios label.
In addition, The Dog Stars, an apocalyptic thriller directed by Ridley Scott, will be released in theaters on March 27, 2026, with a renowned cast yet to be announced.
Marvel is confident that December will be a successful month for its releases, as it was in 2021 with Spider-Man: No Way Home, and hopes to replicate that impact with its upcoming blockbusters.
