Rains in Azua affected substation and leave more than 16 communities without electricity service

The torrential rains that occurred yesterday in the province of Azua caused the HNUV101, HNUV103, HNUV104, and HNUV107 circuits to go out of service, following a fault in the T04 distribution transformer at the Herrera Nueva substation.

Consequently, the communities in the center of Azua de Compostela, La Frontera, Pueblo Abajo, Paraíso, Los Mangos, El Prado, Los Cartones, Savica, Mejoramiento Social, Alto Las Flores, La Colonia Española, Quisqueya, Las Charcas, Estabania, Hatillo, among others... are without service.

The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported this Friday that an upper-level trough, combined with the passage of a tropical wave, will continue to generate moderate to heavy showers, thunderstorms and wind gusts in several provinces of the country.

The institution explained that, since the early hours of this Friday, occasional showers and thunderstorms are being recorded in locations on the Caribbean coast and the northeast, including La Altagracia, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, Barahona and Pedernales.

For the afternoon and the early hours of the night, an increase in cloudiness is expected, which will produce moderate to heavy showers, accompanied by electrical storms and wind gusts, in sectors of La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, Santiago, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Azua, San Juan, San José de Ocoa, Espaillat, Puerto Plata, Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, Elías Piña, Independencia, Bahoruco and Pedernales.
