Remittances to Guatemala grow 19% and exceed $23 billion through November

Guatemala City.- Guatemala received between last January and November 23.2889 billion dollars in family remittances, 19% more than in the same period of 2024, the Central Bank of Guatemala reported this Friday. The accumulated amount in 11 months of this year has already surpassed even the 21,501.2 million dollars that the Central American country received in all of 2024 for family remittances, showing this indicator an increase of 8.2%.

Only during last November, Guatemalans residing outside the country sent 1.9306 billion dollars, an amount lower than the 2.390 billion recorded in October, but higher than the 1.734 billion of the same month of 2024.

According to the projections of the Monetary Board, for this year, family remittances are expected to reach 24.521 million dollars. Authorities estimate that 2.1 million Guatemalans send remittances to their families from the United States to 1.7 million households, which directly impacts seven million inhabitants.
