Santo Domingo. - The Civil Aviation Board (JAC), headed by its president Mr. Héctor Porcella, based on the agreement on Air Transport between the Governments of the Republic of Colombia and the Dominican Republic, in its ordinary session of August 13, 2025, through Resolution No. 172, authorized the Colombian airline JETSMART AIRLINES, S.A.S., to operate the routes of Medellín, Punta Cana, Medellín and Cali, Punta Cana, Cali.
JETSMART AIRLINES, S.A.S., created by Indigo Partners, a private investment fund with over 20 years of experience in the successful development of ultra-low-cost airlines worldwide. Additionally, this fund also has investments in renowned airlines such as Wizz Air (Eastern Europe), Volaris (Mexico), Frontier Airlines (United States), and Cebu Pacific (Philippines). As part of its expansion process in Latin America, JETSMART AIRLINES, S.A.S. will operate new routes that include the Dominican Republic.

JETSMART AIRLINES, S.A.S., plans to start its regular operations from December of this year with three weekly frequencies on both routes using AIRBUS A320-271N aircraft with an average capacity of 186 seats. With the granting of these routes, the country's connectivity with other destinations is strengthened, benefiting consumers who will be able to count on more direct route options from Colombia to the Dominican Republic.
