INTRANT will conduct the 2025 Mobility Survey to continue improving Santo Domingo's transit.

Santo Domingo. – Starting in September 2025, the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT) will launch the update of the Household Mobility Surveys expanded to new areas of Greater Santo Domingo and neighboring municipalities, a key study that will define the future of transportation in the metropolitan area. The initiative, framed within the project "Support for the Implementation of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of Greater Santo Domingo (AIPMUS)", is financed by the European Union and coordinated by the French Development Agency (AFD). Between September and December of this year, a team of duly identified surveyors will visit more than 7,000 homes in the National District, Santo Domingo East, North and West, as well as in Los Alcarrizos, San Cristóbal, Pedro Brand, San Antonio de Guerra, La Caleta and Boca Chica. The objective is to survey more than 50 thousand people. The study will gather information on how, when, and why people move, including travel reasons, frequencies, means of transport, costs, transfers, accessibility, and walking times. All household members over 10 years old will be interviewed. "This information will be the basis for making decisions that improve people's quality of life: from new routes and infrastructure improvements, to safer, more inclusive, and sustainable transportation policies," highlighted INTRANT.
