New York.- The President of the United States, Donald Trump, offered Canada free protection under his "golden dome", an advanced defense system that he plans to have ready in 2029, if it joins the United States as the 51st state.
"Le dije a Canadá, que quiere ser parte de nuestra fabuloso Sistema de Cúpula Dorada, que le costará 61.000 millones de dólares si se mantiene como una nación separada pero desigual, pero le costará CERO DÓLARES si se convierte en nuestro querido estado 51", escribió Trump en Truth Social.
"They are considering the offer!" he assured in the same message.
Trump's statements come after Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said that Canada is suffering from "the dangers of economic and security over-reliance" on the U.S., and that it plans to increase its integration with the European defense industry.

Last week, Trump estimated that the "golden dome", presented as more advanced than Israel's "iron dome", will cost approximately 175 billion dollars and projected that it will be completed by the end of his term in 2029.
The president later assured that Canada "wants to be part" of the system and that it was willing to include the country in exchange for "appropriate" economic compensation, and the Canadian government confirmed that it was in talks with the U.S. government to participate.
