Santo Domingo. – The Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), during the celebration of the XIII Citizen Commitment Conference 2025, awarded a special recognition to Juan Manuel Méndez García, in honor of his outstanding service record, his institutional leadership and his firm commitment to the protection of life and the well-being of the Dominican people.
The conference is a space dedicated to highlighting civic responsibility, risk management, and the construction of a safer society.
In this edition, the institution during the ceremony, headed by the rector of UNIBE, Dr. Odile Camilo, presented the Quintiliano Jáquez Award to Méndez García, a distinction that exalts the dedication, responsibility, and civic example of personalities who have dedicated their work to strengthening citizenship and comprehensive risk management.

Méndez García received the recognition, expressed words of gratitude, dedicating the award to his family and friends.“I also want to thank my family: my wife, my children, my mother, my siblings, and my friends, because many of them become family over the years. Before I finish, I want to quote a phrase from a humble and self-sacrificing person, to whom I am deeply grateful: my mother. Today, at 89 years old and despite the challenges of her age, she continues to be an inspiration, as well as the youngest of my siblings, always reminded me: you have to study; it's the only way to be someone in life, that advice marked my path”, expressed Méndez García.
Likewise, the director of the COE and the DAEH highlighted that his professional life has been guided by the commitment to serve and preserve lives.
