World Anthropology Day is celebrated every year on the third Thursday of February. This date recognizes the importance of anthropology as a discipline dedicated to the study of humanity in its cultural, social, biological, and linguistic dimensions.
The commemoration was promoted by the American Anthropological Association, with the aim of disseminating the value of anthropological work and its contribution to the understanding of cultural diversity, respect, and inclusion. Anthropology allows us to analyze the customs, beliefs, forms of organization, and historical processes of different societies, as well as the changes they face in the contemporary world. In addition, it provides fundamental tools for understanding phenomena such as migration, social inequality, and the preservation of cultural heritage.
