New York.- The U.S. President, Donald Trump, ordered this Friday the Department of Homeland Security to increase to 20,000 the number of agents in charge of deportations throughout the country by means of a proclamation.

This proclamation demands that agents be removed from state and local entities, among other places, but does not indicate how such an effort would be funded.

"No later than 60 days after the date of this proclamation, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall supplement existing enforcement and deportation operations by delegating and contracting with state and local law enforcement officers, former federal agents, officers and personnel from other federal agencies, and other individuals to increase the Department of Homeland Security's enforcement and deportation operations force by no less than 20,000 agents in order to conduct an intensive campaign to remove illegal immigrants who have not voluntarily departed," notes the White House statement.

In the text, Trump indicates that it is his "legal obligation" to exercise all the tools at his disposal to "end this invasion, expel illegal foreign invaders from the United States, and protect the American people."

"This proclamation establishes the Return Home Project, which will offer illegal aliens an option: to leave the United States voluntarily, with the support and financial assistance of the Federal Government, or to stay and face the consequences," the statement adds.
