Ford recalls nearly 200,000 Mustang Mach-Es due to door latch issues

Washington.- Ford Motor Company announced the recall of nearly 200,000 Mustang Mach-E electric vehicles in the United States, due to a fault in the electronic door latches, which could trap passengers in the back seat. The measure affects 197,432 mid-size Mustang Mach-E SUVs corresponding to models between 2021 and 2025, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

According to the federal agency, the latches could remain locked even after a driver or front passenger has exited the vehicle, posing a risk if there is a child or other person who cannot operate the door release from the inside. Ford plans to send notifications to owners starting June 23, and the problem will be corrected via a software update, expected to be available by the end of September.
