The arrival will be headed by the Director General of Customs, Eduardo “Yayo” Sanz Lovatón, along with representatives from business, airport, and logistics sectors, reflecting the magnitude of the event. In parallel, the American multinational confirmed that the Dominican Republic will become the site of a regional distribution center for Latin America, consolidating the country as a strategic cargo hub in the Caribbean. Sanz Lovatón emphasized that e-commerce is changing the national logistics dynamics. "Today, 60% of online purchases are transported by air, when just two decades ago the majority arrived by sea. This shows how our economy is evolving and the country's role as a distribution center," he pointed out. The AILA already has a modern package and courier reception center, designed to respond to the growth of international transport. With the entry into operations of Amazon, the Dominican Republic is emerging as a reliable destination for investment in logistics and a key point on the map of e-commerce in the region.
