With this home run, the Yankees captain reached 47 home runs this season, adding his third in the last two games. In addition, he officially placed himself among the select group of franchise sluggers led by Babe Ruth (659 of 714), Mickey Mantle (536), and Lou Gehrig (493). The day was also marked by another historic record: the home run against Boston signified Judge's 19th home run in the first inning during the season, a new Major League record according to Elias Sports Bureau. The previous record was shared by Judge himself (2024) and Alex Rodriguez (2001).
"Just two legends, baseball greats, all-time great Yankees," Judge said, reflecting on his place alongside DiMaggio and Yogi Berra, whom he recently surpassed on the list. "It's great to be in that company, but even more important is getting the win for the team." Since the beginning of 2024, 37 of Judge's 105 home runs have come in the first inning, solidifying his reputation as one of the most explosive hitters at the start of games.
