Santo Domingo. – The National Office of Meteorology (INDOMET) reported this Monday that it is monitoring an active tropical wave associated with a low pressure center located south of the Dominican Republic, in the Caribbean Sea, which has a 90% probability of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours. The system, which is moving west, is generating showers, thunderstorms, and wind gusts in several parts of the country, effects that will continue during the week. This situation is reinforced by the humidity provided by the east/northeast wind and cloud bands indirectly associated with the phenomenon. INDOMET warns that the rains could cause urban and rural floods, overflows of rivers, streams and ravines, especially in vulnerable sectors, so 18 provinces are under meteorological alert and one remains under warning.
