Dominican pitchers Sandy Alcántara and Edward Cabrera are once again at the center of conversations in the Major League Baseball trade market, months after the Marlins decided to keep them at the 2025 Trade Deadline. Now, both arms are once again sparking strong interest among several teams.

According to information from Jon Paul Morosi, MLB Network contributor, both Alcántara and Cabrera are considered "very popular" among clubs seeking impact reinforcements for their rotations. Morosi expressed confidence that Miami could finalize a move involving one of these two pitchers in the coming weeks. Alcántara, 30 years old, finished last season with an ERA of 5.36 in 174.2 innings, his first year after returning from Tommy John surgery. However, his finish was encouraging: he recorded 3.13 ERA in his last 12 starts. The winner of the 2022 National League Cy Young is under contract for US$17.3 million in 2026, and a club option of US$21 million for 2027. For his part, Cabrera, 27 years old, has shown the talent to become a high-caliber starter, but injuries and inconsistent control have hampered his progress. In 2025, he took a step forward by reducing his career walk rate (13.3%) to 8.3%, pitched 137.2 innings, the most of his career, and recorded an ERA of 3.32, with 9.8 strikeouts per nine innings.
