María Corina Machado will have a street in the Spanish city of Valladolid

The Venezuelan María Corina Machado, Nobel Peace Prize winner 2025 for her work in favor of peace, democracy and human rights, will have a street in the Spanish city of Valladolid (center), as announced this Friday by the City Council of that capital. The mayor of Valladolid, Jesús Julio Carnero, stated that "Machado's commitment to the values of peace, concord, and solidarity deserved the recognition of incorporating his name into the city's street directory." The chosen public road is located between Paseo del Arco de Ladrillo and Orlando street, near La Paz park and the solidarity axis.

The incorporation of his name into the local street directory, according to the mayor, "is a tribute to those who defend peace, freedom and the dignity of peoples": "His exemplary career and his commitment to human rights are a beacon for those of us who aspire to build more just and supportive societies". The Valladolid councilor emphasized that the city "is proud to join the international recognition of his figure" and hopes that this street "will be a living space that reminds future generations of the importance of democracy, concord, and the peaceful struggle for fundamental rights." The Venezuelan leader was awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for her work promoting the democratic rights of the people of Venezuela and her fight for a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy, according to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, for whom Machado constitutes "one of the most extraordinary examples of civil courage in Latin America in recent times".
