The leader of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, proposed renouncing the idea of joining NATO as a "compromise" in the process of seeking a solution to the Ukrainian conflict. He would be considering this in exchange for security guarantees from the West, similar to Article 5 of NATO on mutual protection for any member under attack.
Zelensky made these statements, reported by Reuters and Financial Times, this Sunday before the start of negotiations in Germany between representatives of Washington and the Kiev regime, which will continue this Monday.
"From the beginning, Ukraine's desire was to join NATO, those are real security guarantees. Some US and European partners did not support this path," he said.
The leader of the Kiev regime added that, in light of this situation, as of today "the bilateral security guarantees between Ukraine and the US, guarantees similar to Article 5" of the Atlantic Alliance, as well as the security guarantees of European countries, Canada and Japan, represent "an opportunity" to avoid another armed conflict with Russia.
