Class and Ortiz's request to play in Lidom is rejected

Santo Domingo.– The presiding judge of the Civil and Commercial Chamber of the Court of First Instance of the National District, acting as a judge of referrals, rejected the lawsuit filed by players Enmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz against the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (Lidom) and its president.

The plaintiffs sought to suspend the decision by which the president of Lidom objected to their registration to participate with the Estrellas Orientales in the current Autumn-Winter Tournament 2025-2026, as well as that the court order their immediate inclusion in the team's roster. Likewise, the players requested the imposition of an "astreinte" of "RD$100,000 daily" against Lidom and its president for each day of delay in the registration of both players, a claim that was also rejected by the court. To support his decision, the magistrate cited Article 56 of the 2025-2026 Lidom Tournament Regulations, which states that the League president is broadly empowered to decide on any matter not provided for in the regulations or not attributed to other bodies, and that such decisions will be provisional until ratified or revoked by the Board of Directors. The decision is contained in Civil Ordinance No. 504-2025-5ORD-2378. Lidom expressed its confidence that the same criteria will be applied in the other legal actions filed by Clase y Ortiz against the League and its president.
