Initial investigations suggest that the bus overturned when taking the curve at excessive speed, with a wet road surface, according to the Turkish agency Anadolu. The vehicle, owned by the Turkish transport company Buzlu, had left the previous day from the city of Tekirdag, in the northwest of Turkey, and had almost completed its 850-kilometer journey. Just 40 minutes later, around 11:00 local time (8:00 GMT), two cars collided in the neighboring province of Burdu, causing seven deaths and five injuries, the provincial governor's office reported. This second fatal accident occurred on a road just 60 kilometers north of the first and has raised to 16 the number of fatalities due to traffic accidents in Turkey in a single morning.
