Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader urged Dominicans to continue working for the strengthening of democracy, national development and the consolidation of institutions, assuring that the construction of a better nation is a permanent process that demands the collective effort of the entire society.
The leader made these statements during his sixth Accountability Report before the National Assembly, held in the National Congress, in compliance with the provisions of the Constitution in its article 114. In that scenario, he reaffirmed his administration's commitment to the country's progress and institutional strengthening.
During his speech to the nation, the Head of State expressed that "independence was proclaimed once, but the Republic is built every day", underlining that truly living nations do not stop, but rather advance, transform, and demand more of themselves to expand the opportunities of their citizens.
Abinader recalled that independence taught that freedom is not granted, but conquered, and that democracy is not presumed, but defended with concrete actions and civic responsibility.
Likewise, he maintained that development is not proclaimed, but rather is built daily through the joint commitment of all sectors.
The ruler emphasized that the Republic is strengthened when institutions function, the law is upheld, and power is exercised with responsibility and clear limits, pointing out that governing implies serving with humility, transparency, and adherence to democratic principles .
