Abinader says he doesn't understand why Diosdado Cabello feels "alluded" when he talks about drug traffickers

Santo Domingo. – President Luis Abinader responded this Monday to the statements of the general secretary of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, assuring that he never made direct pronouncements towards him, but rather referred to drug trafficking and the so-called Cartel de los Soles. “I didn't make any statement about him. I spoke about drug traffickers and the Cartel de los Soles, I didn't even mention Venezuela. The Government was the one that declared that group as terrorists, I don't know why he feels alluded to,” the president stated when questioned by the press.

The head of state described as strange the statements of Cabello, who reacted in harsh terms to the position of the Dominican government. "I'm surprised that he says all that in a derogatory way, but treats Secretary Rubio with so much respect and even calls for a meeting with Trump. There I saw his great courage, what courage," added Abinader with an ironic tone.

What Cabello said about Abinader

Cabello harshly criticized several foreign leaders, including Dominican President Luis Abinader, for their alleged support of the destruction of a ship accused of transporting drugs by the United States. In a statement laden with insults and strong accusations, Cabello referred to Abinader as a "stupid rascal" and to the president of Trinidad and Tobago, whom he did not name directly, as "the drunkard." According to the Chavista leader, supporting said military operation implies a betrayal of the interests of its own citizens, particularly fishermen. He warned that by supporting an action of this nature, these leaders would be "condemning their own fishermen to be executed at sea."
