“Today, 70 percent of citizens have an Android device in their hands. We have started this first phase by focusing on Greater Santo Domingo, the National District, Santiago de los Caballeros, and San Juan de la Maguana, to ensure that the population receives alerts in a timely manner and with the appropriate guidance,” explained the president of Indotel.
The official also offered official statistics reflecting the magnitude of the problem in the country: between 2018 and 2024, 1,200 people were reported missing in the Dominican Republic, while in July 2024 alone, there are already 127 reported cases. The implementation of this technology is part of the efforts of the Dominican State, in conjunction with the National System of Attention to Emergencies and 9-1-1 Security, to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation and guarantee the protection of the most vulnerable citizens.
