Edeeste deploys community teams to explain causes of blackouts and guarantee improvements in service

Santo Domingo Este. – The Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (Edeeste) reported that it has intensified its outreach to the communities in its concession area, through meetings led by its Social Management staff and specialized technicians, in order to listen to users and offer clear explanations about the causes of power outages. Community days have been held in locations such as Monte Plata, San Isidro, Santo Domingo Norte, San Pedro de Macorís and in sectors of the National District. During the meetings, Edeeste explained that the recent breakdowns are largely due to the generation deficit at the national level, caused by the low availability of some plants affected by sargassum, in addition to the increase in night consumption due to high temperatures and the numerous illegal connections that overload the distribution networks.

The company highlighted that the investments made in the repowering of power transformers in 2023 have allowed many sectors to no longer suffer blackouts due to overloads, although it acknowledged that there are still vulnerable areas. In that sense, it assured that new repowering and network rehabilitation works are planned for the next stage of strengthening the electrical system. Edeeste also called on customers to report breakdowns in a timely manner, as these notices constitute the main alert that activates the mobilization of its technical brigades. "When the community does not report, the response time is prolonged, which generates greater discomfort and stress in the population," said the distributor. He also urged users to make rational use of energy, reminding them that efficiency in consumption not only helps preserve the stability of the system, but also represents relief on the electricity bill. Among the recommendations are reducing consumption during peak hours and eliminating illegal connections. The company reiterated its commitment to transparency and closeness to citizens, ensuring that it is working hard to mitigate the effects of the current situation and confident that in the coming days the availability of energy will stabilize, thus reducing interruptions.
