Santiago. – A man died tragically this Friday after receiving an electric shock when he allegedly tried to
manipulate a distribution switch located on Presidente Antonio Guzmán Avenue, in Santiago.
According to the authorities, the victim whose name has not been revealed was found lifeless in the back of the distribution box. Upon contact with the high-voltage cables, he received a shock that caused his death instantly.
Witnesses indicated that the man had allegedly tried to dismantle parts of the electrical equipment, a practice that, according to local residents, has already caused the death of other people in similar circumstances.
The incident caused major traffic congestion on the busy road, due to the multitude of onlookers who gathered at the scene to observe the scene.
Agents from the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Dicrim) and members of the Scientific Police went to the area to collect evidence and open an investigation into the case.
The body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) of Santiago, where it will undergo the corresponding autopsy.
