Santo Domingo.- The Office for the Reordering of Transportation (OPRET) is evaluating the construction of parking lots at the Santo Domingo Metro stations that are currently being expanded, as part of a plan to reduce traffic congestion on the capital's streets.
The director of OPRET, Rafael Antonio Santos Pérez, indicated that the initiative seeks to encourage the middle class to leave their vehicles in designated places and use the metro to get around the city.
"We plan to generate parking lots, basically at the stations we are expanding, as is the case of Punta, in Villa Mella, which also entails a large parking lot so that people can leave their vehicle there and enter the city to do their errands in a safe, economical and fast mode of transport," he said in an interview for Esto No Es Radio Show.
