The award highlights Banco BHD's approach and implementation of its corporate culture regarding the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals. This vision of the entity incorporates social, environmental, and economic considerations in decision-making that supports the sustained growth of the business.
Steven Puig, president of Banco BHD, when leading the opening ceremony of the congress, indicated that “for ten years we have been executing a sustainability strategy that we have assumed with the commitment to support the sustained growth of the business and promote the human progress of our clients, collaborators and Dominican society in general through the realization of responsible, innovative and close banking”.
The sustainability award was received by the CEO of Banco BHD, Fidelio Arturo Despradel, and by Josefina Navarro, Senior Vice President of Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility of the entity, from the hands of the Superintendent of Banks, Alejandro Fernández W., and Rosanna Ruíz, president of the ABA.During the congress, the signing of the Santo Domingo Declaration for a more sustainable and inclusive Latin American banking took place. Representing Banco BHD, Despradel was a signatory along with other executives from financial institutions and companies with the aim of reinforcing the shared vision of a fair, responsible financial model prepared to face the challenges of the future.
BHD's presence at the congress also consisted of participation in panels and conferences, and the placement of a stand where representatives of the entity discussed the bank's good sustainability practices in terms of financial inclusion, the financial and non-financial value proposition for women, and environmental and social risk management, among other topics.
In addition to Navarro, Ángela Nieto, Executive Vice President of Digital Banking; Kirssys Abreu, Second Vice President of Sustainability and Social Responsibility; Cristina Bello, Second Vice President of Environmental Risk, and Elizabeth Rojas, Second Vice President of Business Strategy for Women, participated in these dialogue spaces.
