Tesla used vehicle prices in the U.S. fall to their lowest level ever

Washington.- The average price of used Tesla vehicles in United States is at its lowest level in history for the first time and is lower than the average of other used cars, according to the CarGurus website index. The index places the average price of used cars in the U.S. in August at $28,039, an increase of 0.66% compared to the same month in 2024, while that of Tesla vehicles is $27,814, a year-on-year drop of 13.97%. CarGurus noted that the Cybertruck 'pick-up' truck is the vehicle that has suffered the most annual depreciation, 30.44%, and that its average used price is $83,963. The controversial model has suffered serious quality problems even before its launch: at the 2019 presentation of the vehicle, whose chassis is made entirely of stainless steel, Tesla CEO Elon Musk claimed that its windows were bulletproof. But when he tried to demonstrate their resistance with a steel ball, the window was destroyed to the disappointment of the public.

All Tesla models have lost value in the CarGurus index, even the Model 3, the brand's most popular, now has an average resale price of $23,318, 8.04% less than a year ago.

The Model S is 22.61% cheaper, the Model X is 16.8%, and the Model Y is 11.97%. The depreciation of the value of used Teslas coincides with the company's image problems due to Musk's involvement with far-right politics in the Americas and Europe.
