Uepa Tickets was born in 2007 as a pioneering venture within the digital ecosystem of Dominican Republic. Back then, buying tickets for concerts, plays, and sporting events was still a mostly manual process: lines at ticket offices, uncertainty about availability, and delays in confirmation. With the vision of simplifying this scenario, a team of entrepreneurs from the Uepa Group identified the opportunity to integrate technology and entertainment to offer an agile and secure alternative. Thus, Uepa Tickets was established as the first online ticketing network in the Dominican Republic, marking the beginning of a revolution in the way Dominicans access cultural and entertainment events.
History of Uepa Tickets
From its early months, Uepa Tickets stood out for its intuitive interface and its support for the values of reliability and integrity. Users began to notice that they could purchase tickets with a few clicks and receive immediate confirmation, without the need to go to physical locations. This efficiency not only benefited the public, but also promoters and organizers, who saw how the system reduced queues, issuing errors, and risks associated with cash handling. Thanks to this reliability, in less than a year Uepa Tickets was already the preferred option for the main concerts and festivals in Santo Domingo, Santiago, and other provinces.
Alliance with Movie Max: Uepa Tickets at Movie Max (2007)
In July 2007, just a few months after its founding, Uepa Tickets took a key step by partnering with Movie Max Entertainment Center to launch the project “Uepa Tickets at Movie Max”. The presentation event took place on July 13, 2007, at the Movie Max headquarters, located on Abraham Lincoln Avenue corner Víctor Garrido Puello. During the event, Fernando Queipo – president of Medios Digitales, promoter of the project – highlighted that this alliance constituted “the most extensive network for the distribution and sale of tickets for events in the country”.
The main features of this project were:
- Network of 12 physical ticket offices: located in strategic points of Santo Domingo, Santiago, Bávaro and Punta Cana, facilitating access to tickets in different regions of the country.
- 24/7 online sales: through Uepa.com, users could purchase tickets at any time, eliminating time limitations.
- Comprehensive event coverage: from small-format concerts and cultural activities to sporting events, educational events, and mass spectacles.
- Specialized software: Uepa Tickets at Movie Max implemented an online system built on its own technological platform, designed to be user-friendly, flexible, secure, and measurable, which optimized inventory control, ticket issuance, and real-time report generation.
This partnership made Uepa Tickets the only ticketing agency in the country backed by specialized software and a physical network, reinforcing the trust of promoters and spectators. Furthermore, the presence in Movie Max stores facilitated an additional audience, related to audiovisual entertainment, to get to know the digital platform and start adopting it immediately.
Continuous innovation and ecosystem expansion (2008–2019)
Following the success of the alliance with Movie Max, Uepa Tickets continued to reinforce its value proposition:
- QR code implementation (2008–2009): enabled rapid scanning of tickets at concerts and other events, reducing fraud and speeding up access to venues.
- Real-time seat selection (2010): incorporated interactive online maps for the user to choose their exact location, optimizing the purchasing experience.
- Mobile notifications (2011): buyers began to receive alerts about schedule changes, seat relocations, and event date and time reminders, all directly on their mobile device.
In 2012, Uepa Tickets took a decisive step into the financial sector by launching UepaPay, a complementary fintech solution that allowed online payment management not only for ticketing, but also for mobile top-ups and utility bill payments. In this way, Uepa established itself as a benchmark in technology and finance, integrating the purchase of tickets and the management of digital transactions into the same ecosystem.
Over the following years, the platform surpassed the milestone of processing over a million transactions a year and established partnerships with international promoters and hotel chains. This boosted the advance sale of tickets for events that attracted tourists from the region, positioning Uepa Tickets as an essential player in entertainment tourism and contributing to local economic growth. Likewise, Uepa Tickets sponsored technology training workshops for young people, reinforcing its social commitment and its reputation in the community.
UepaPay Launch: The New Online Payment Platform (2020)

In 2020, Uepa Tickets further expanded its digital ecosystem with the launch of UepaPay, an online payment solution that revolutionized commercial transactions in the Dominican Republic. Designed to optimize, streamline, and secure operations for both businesses and consumers, UepaPay was introduced to the market with the following key features and benefits:
- Intuitive and secure interface: Allows users to create a personal or business account in less than 10 minutes.
- Payments within 24 hours: Funds are deposited directly into the recipient's bank account in less than 24 hours, with no registration fees or monthly fees; the only fee is a 5.5% commission per transaction.
- Multiple applications: Ideal for delivery and pick-up (restaurants), online services, e-commerce, subscription payments, restaurants, and professional services (legal, accounting, etc.).
- Secure payment links: The merchant generates a link that can be sent via email, SMS, WhatsApp, or social media so that the customer can pay with their credit or debit card.
- Multisecure Security: Each transaction is reviewed with advanced algorithms to prevent fraud and provide peace of mind to users and merchants.
- Collaboration with Urban: Partnership with the logistics company Urban to offer a comprehensive service that includes online order capture and home delivery in Gran Santo Domingo and Santiago, ensuring each order through digital signature in accordance with Dominican legislation.
The impact on the market was immediate:
- Expanded user base: Entrepreneurs, SMEs, and independent professionals who initially only purchased tickets on Uepa Tickets began to adopt UepaPay for their commercial collections.
- Accounting and logistical improvements: Fast collection in less than 24 hours reduced liquidity deadlines, facilitating the financial planning of companies.
- Alliances with local businesses: Restaurants, pharmacies, and hardware stores incorporated UepaPay as a payment method, expanding the acceptance network and reinforcing the platform's presence in daily commerce.
- Brand reinforcement: The extension of the values of innovation and reliability of Uepa Tickets to the fintech field consolidated Uepa as a cutting-edge company that anticipates the needs of the digital user.
Implementation of CASHLESS UEPAPAY (2024)
Based on the experience accumulated with UepaPay, in 2024 the platform launched CASHLESS UEPAPAY, a cashless payment system focused on the daily lives of consumers and their dependents, especially for the payment of meals and snacks. Its main features include:
- Dependent Accounts: Each subscription allows the creation of up to four "dependent" accounts under a main account, ideal for families and educational institutions.
- Automatic Recharge: When the balance falls below DOP $300, the platform automatically recharges the account with the predefined amount, ensuring that funds are never lacking.
- Real-time Notifications: The account holder receives instant alerts every time a dependent makes a purchase, facilitating expense control.
- Daily Spending Limit: Users can set a maximum daily usage amount for each dependent account.
- Selection of Establishments: Only establishments associated with CASHLESS UEPAPAY are enabled to receive payments, ensuring reliable transactions.
- Subscription Plans:
- Annual (DOP $1,950)
- Semiannual (DOP $1,150)
- Monthly (DOP $250)
This solution expanded Uepa's value proposition by completely eliminating the use of cash in everyday consumption environments, once again reinforcing the mission of providing easy-to-use, secure, and efficient tools.
Over more than fifteen years, Uepa Tickets has demonstrated its ability to adapt and grow in a constantly changing digital environment. From its initial alliance with Movie Max in 2007, through the creation of UepaPay in 2020 and the evolution towards CASHLESS UEPAPAY in 2024, each stage of its history reflects an unwavering commitment to innovation, reliability, excellence in service, and integrity.
Thanks to its user-centric approach, its continuous investment in technology, and its social responsibility—sponsoring technology training workshops for underprivileged youth and supporting cultural initiatives—Uepa Tickets has established itself as the most recognized ticketing and digital payments platform in the Dominican Republic. Its multidisciplinary team, composed of developers, designers, customer service specialists, and executive leaders, works tirelessly to anticipate market needs and offer solutions that facilitate the lives of businesses and consumers, positioning Uepa as a benchmark in fintech and event management nationally and internationally.Where is Uepa Tickets located?
