During this Monday's morning conference of the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, it was confirmed that the leader of the
Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), '
El Tolín', died after the operation that took place on Sunday against 'El Mencho', co-founder of the Cartel, one of the most powerful organized crime groups in the country.
'El Tolín' was the logistics and financial operator and the
main confidant of 'El Mencho'. After the implementation of the operation, he began to coordinate blockades on communication routes, vehicle fires, attacks on military installations, the National Guard, businesses and government facilities. In addition, he offered
20,000 pesos (about $1,165)
for each soldier that the personnel of that criminal group assassinated.

Following his location, a confrontation with military personnel occurred, resulting in his death. He was secured a long gun, a handgun, 7,200,000 pesos ($420,000) and 965,000 US dollars, cartridges, magazines, and the vehicle in which he attempted to escape.
Bloody Balance
According to what was reported in the same press conference by the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, García Harfuch, yesterday in the attacks carried out after the action to arrest 'El Mencho' 27 aggressions against the authority were recorded. In Jalisco
25 members of the National Guard lost their lives, a custodian, one from the State Attorney General's Office and a woman, while 30 members of organized crime died.
In Michoacán, 13 attacks were recorded, resulting in the death of four criminals and injuries to 15 members of the security forces.
In addition, there were 85 blockades on federal highways in Baja California, State of Mexico, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Jalisco, Oaxaca, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, Veracruz and Zacatecas.
70 people were arrested.
Recognition to National Defense
At the beginning of her speech, Sheinbaum wanted to give a "special recognition to National Defense", mentioning both the Mexican Army, the National Guard and the Air Force:
"Mexico has extraordinary armed forces", she said.
"Today there is more tranquility, and there is a Government, there are Armed Forces, there is a Security Cabinet and there is a lot of coordination," said Sheinbaum, alluding to the
wave of violence unleashed in the country after the operation that resulted in the death of 'El Mencho'.
For his part, the Secretary of National Defense, expressed about the operation: "The intelligence process is very complicated, it takes a lot of time, it requires gathering information, clues, from various national and international sources. As Armed Forces we have strengthened the relationship with the Northern Command of the United States, and that exchange of information is very important," he said.
