Washington.- The president of the United States, Donald Trump, demanded this Friday that Israel stop bombing the Gaza Strip in order to negotiate with Hamas the release of the hostages.
Trump wrote this message on his Truth Social network after the Palestinian Islamist group agreed to release the hostages, as part of the peace plan proposed by the American president.

"Based on the statement Hamas just issued, I believe they are ready for a lasting peace. Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza so we can release the hostages safely and quickly. Right now it's too dangerous," Trump expressed. "We are already negotiating the details that still need to be resolved. It's not just about Gaza, it's about the long-awaited peace in the Middle East," he added. On the same platform, the president published Hamas's statement in which the group accepted his proposal. Trump has also recorded a video message about the negotiations with Hamas that will be released in the coming hours, the White House reported. Hamas announced this Friday in a statement that it has decided to release all the hostages under Trump's terms and indicated its willingness to immediately negotiate the details of the agreement. This very Friday, Trump had given Hamas a deadline until Sunday to accept the plan and warned that, otherwise, "hell will be unleashed like never before" against the Islamists. The 20-point plan presented on Monday at the White House, accepted by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, proposes the immediate end of the war, the release of the Hamas hostages, and the formation of a transitional government for Gaza, which would be overseen by the US president and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. This roadmap also contemplates the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip and the possibility of negotiating a Palestinian state in the future, something ruled out, however, by the Israeli prime minister.
