Washington.- President Donald Trump signed an executive order this Thursday aimed at boosting the growth of the private aerospace industry in the United States, with the aim of multiplying the number of commercial launches by 2030.
The measure establishes a framework to streamline bureaucratic procedures, reduce costs and waiting times, directly benefiting American companies, including potential contractors such as SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk.
According to the document, the Secretary of Transportation, along with the president of the Council on Environmental Quality, will be able to “use all available authorities to eliminate or expedite” environmental reviews and other obstacles that usually delay permits.
The Secretary of Transportation, Sean Duffy, celebrated the initiative on the social network X, calling it "Visionary" and stating: "Space plays a crucial role in our future. We are launching ourselves towards the last frontier and this Executive Order makes it possible for the United States to lead the world from terrestrial travel to space travel".

Also, the order sets a deadline of 150 days for the Secretary of Commerce to propose a system of individualized authorizations for space activities that, although contemplated by the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, still lack specific regulation.
