Los Angeles (USA),.- At least two dozen small earthquakes shook the area of the San Francisco Bay in California this Monday, with one of magnitude 4.2 as the largest magnitude recorded in the area, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

More than 4,000 people reported feeling the tremor at the beginning of the workday, according to a USGS survey. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported that there is no tsunami threat due to the 4.2 magnitude earthquake. The earthquake was felt even in places as distant as Santa Rosa, Modesto, and Santa Cruz. The series of tremors, known as seismic swarms, began around 6:30 local time (14:30 GMT) with a magnitude 3.9 earthquake. USGS recorded almost two dozen earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 or higher were recorded this Monday morning in that area. The area experienced hundreds of earthquakes with a magnitude greater than 2.0 in November and December, which kept the city's inhabitants on edge for weeks, according to data cited by the San Francisco Gate newspaper.
