SANTO DOMINGO.- The national and Caribbean champions, Leones del Escogido, will begin their official preparation for the 2025-26 LIDOM season on Thursday, September 25, at the New York Yankees academy located in Boca Chica.

The first scarlet practice will begin at 9:00 a.m., according to the Baseball Operations department of the 17-time national champions, headed by general manager Carlos Peña. For the opening of training, the Escogido calls on all members of its native reserve and will extend the invitation to the players that the team selects in the 2025 Rookie Draft, which will be held on September 10. After winning the crown in the 2024-25 season, the Lions will return with a strengthened roster, which will include pieces acquired in the offseason. Since the Caribbean Series concluded, the Leones have acquired, through trades and free agency signings, the players: Alexander Canario (OF), José Devers (SS), Víctor Robles (OF), Génesis Cabrera (LP), Héctor Pérez (RP), Luis Santos (RP), and Fernando Abad (LP). The club also re-signed: Junior Lake (OF), Yamaico Navarro (1B), Zoilo Almonte (OF), Rodolfo Martínez (PD), Keury Mella (PD), and Orlando Calixte (3B). The defense of the chosen crown will begin on Wednesday, October 15, when they face the Tigres del Licey as visitors at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium. The next day, the Lions will have their first home game against the Estrellas Orientales.
