Santo Domingo. – The National Council on Disability (
CONADIS) presented its first podcast titled “CONADIS with Everyone,” a space for dialogue and reflection aimed at promoting social inclusion and defending the rights of people with disabilities in the Dominican Republic.
Through this space, various topics of interest will be addressed, such as the draft National Disability Plan, accessibility, labor inclusion, the registration and assessment of disability, as well as the issuance of the disability certificate.
In this first episode, the president of CONADIS, Benny Metz; the executive director, Alexis Alcántara; the technical director, Katherine Rodríguez; participated, under the conduction of the head of Communications of the institution, Stephany Almonte and the production of Brea Frank. During the conversation, they shared the institution's progress and the efforts it makes to guarantee a more inclusive society.
President Benny Metz highlighted the strategic alliances that CONADIS has consolidated in recent months, which has allowed the population to access general and specialized health services through the social inclusion days held in the provinces of La Romana, Peravia, Santiago, San Cristóbal and Santo Domingo.
For his part, CEO Alexis Alcántara explained the process of delivering support devices, noting that "our social protection technicians make visits to identify people's true needs. Sometimes someone requests a wheelchair, but after the evaluation it is determined that a walker or a cane is more appropriate."
Similarly, the technical director, Katherine Rodríguez, reaffirmed that the mission of CONADIS is to guarantee the rights of people with disabilities, highlighting that "society's vision has changed: we are no longer talking about charity, we are talking about rights, and our responsibility is to uphold them."
The podcast “CONADIS with Todos” will be available the second week of each month on the official YouTube channel of the institution, CONADIS RD.
