  • 1849: President Manuel Jimenes appears before Congress on charges of pressuring said body.
  • 1884: First test of the Santiago-Samaná railway, which only covered the Sánchez-La Vega section.
  • 1907: Congress declares a loan of up to twenty million pesos to be of public utility.
  • 1916: The U.S. flag cruiser Dolfin arrives in the country, commanded by Rear Admiral William Banks Cáperton, who immediately urged General Desiderio Arias to lay down his arms within 48 hours, officially initiating the military intervention of the Dominican Republic.
