Santo Domingo.-Rain has a curious way of awakening the senses… many people feel how the body reacts differently: hugs are prolonged, gazes become deeper and desire flows with the same naturalness with which the drops fall. Mexican doctor and sexologist David Barrios explains that there is a cultural factor that associates rainy days with romance and intimacy. According to him, 83% of his patients believe that rainy days increase their sexual predisposition. The rain creates an ideal environment for romance and relaxation, being the perfect setting to enjoy intimate moments. Some even claim that the humid weather has an "aphrodisiac" effect on people. The specialist also points out that, although the relationship between rain and sexual desire is common, there is no biological cause to explain this phenomenon.

"Many people, when it rains in the morning, afternoon or night, like to stay in bed longer to do something other than sleep or watch television: have pleasurable sexual encounters," comments Barrios. The sexologist adds that, on rainy days, the type of intimate encounter tends to be more intense and passionate, characterized by a strong emotional connection, rather than being impulsive or wild.
