Tetra Pak accelerates its fight against climate change

In its 26th Sustainability Report FY24, the company reports a record reduction in its greenhouse gas emissions Santo Domingo.- Tetra Pak, the Swedish multinational, world leader in the food processing and packaging industry, has just published its 2024 Sustainability Report, in which it reports on the progress made by the company in this area, worldwide. Among them, for example, the 25% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its entire value chain since 2019 stands out, representing a five percentage point improvement over 2023. In its own operations, the company has achieved a 54% reduction in GHG emissions since 2019 and reports a renewable energy consumption of 94%, staying on track to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030.

These achievements go hand in hand with continuous efforts to improve living conditions and strengthen economies by providing safe food everywhere. In this regard, Adolfo Orive, President and CEO of Tetra Pak, pointed out that by 2050 the world population is expected to reach 10 billion people, which will drive a 60% increase in food demand.

afirmó el ejecutivo.
The report also highlights the company's commitment to reduce 46% of its GHG emissions across the entire value chain by 2030 (scopes 1, 2 and 3), compared to the base year, which is 2019. This adds to another year of significant development in the decarbonization of the company's operations and in helping its customers reduce their emissions through the equipment, technology and services it offers to the food and beverage industry. These advances demonstrate the company's ongoing commitment to work in collaboration with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders to achieve net-zero GHG emissions across the entire value chain (scopes 1, 2, and 3) by 2050, compared to 2019. A key factor in Tetra Pak's progress in reducing GHG emissions across its value chain in 2024 were its resource-efficient equipment such as water and energy, its comprehensive factory optimization technology, and its packaging solutions with a lower carbon footprint.
