Carlos Batista Matos's children bid farewell to their father with an emotional tribute at his funeral

Santo Domingo.- During the funeral of the renowned journalist Carlos Batista Matos, found in his residence in the El Vergel sector in Santo Domingo, presumably after suffering a heart attack, the 6 children of the veteran communicator expressed emotional words in memory of their father, prior to his burial held this Thursday in the Puerta del Cielo cemetery. With words full of love and sadness, they shared that perhaps for many their father was "the most expensive man on television", as he was popularly known, in addition to being a renowned journalist who marked generations of communicators with his dedication and resume; however, for them he was the best father, the light of their eyes and an extraordinary human being, describing him as their great example of life. Despite the sadness and great sorrow, they thanked their father for being their guide, mentor, and companion, followed by publicly thanking their father's colleagues and the Dominican citizenry in general for accompanying them as a family in such a difficult moment.

Tribute with his ties

As a sign of respect and love, each of Carlos Batista's children, as the coffin was lowered during the burial, threw a tie that had been used by their father over the years and was part of his select collection, remembering his jokes because he used to say "that there was no one in the Dominican Republic who had the amount of ties that he had", these being thrown on the coffin.
