Barahona. — The National Police, in coordination with the Public Ministry, reported this Sunday the dismantling of an alleged criminal gang dedicated to the theft of trucks loaded with merchandise, during an operation carried out in this province.
The intervention was the result of an investigation process led by agents of the Department of Investigation (DICRIM), attached to the Southern Regional Directorate, with the support of the Preventive Police and the Rapid Action Unit.
During the operation, executed in the Villa Estela sector under judicial order No. 2026-AJ22386, Cristian Ariendy Matos, Daniel Enríquez Fralcon, Luis Amaury Tavares, and José Danio Ramírez, alias “Chupa”, who reside in Barahona and Santo Domingo, were arrested.
According to the preliminary report, those arrested would be part of a criminal structure that intercepted trucks in different provinces of the northern region of the country to strip drivers of their vehicles and merchandise.
