Port St. Lucie, Florida. — Manager Gilbert Gómez made it clear that his continuity at the helm of the Tigres del Licey responds to a firm commitment to the organization and a pending goal: to compete again for the championship.

Ratified in February as manager of the blue team, Gómez assured that his permanence was always in the plans after concluding last season.
"That was always the plan. My commitment to the franchise is quite high. We have unfinished business to take care of," he expressed during the New York Mets' spring training.
The young leader, who made history as the youngest to win a title in the LIDOM, acknowledges that the next tournament will be marked by great challenges, but remains optimistic.
"We know that next season will be full of challenges and competition. I am very happy to continue leading the group and excited about what lies ahead," he affirmed.
A Reinforced Technical Body
In preparation for the new campaign, Gómez will have the integration of Wellington Cepeda as a bench coach, a figure with extensive experience both in the local league and internationally.
"He's a person we always wanted to have in our group. He's a baseball man, with a high knowledge of the league," the leader highlighted.
Gómez valued Cepeda's ability to contribute in different areas of the game, underlining that they are already working on fully integrating him into the coaching staff.
The key: preparation and focus
After a 2025-26 season in which the team failed to qualify, the leader was emphatic about the need to raise the level of execution.
"Our motto has always been preparation. We must do it with more emphasis, with a sense of urgency and a better focus," he explained.
According to Gómez, the objective will be to correct small details that can make a significant difference in the final result.
"All teams prepare, but we must focus on those aspects that give us an advantage," he added.
Experience in Major Leagues
Parallel to this, Gómez will experience a new stage in his career by joining the Mets' staff as a first base and infield coach, after almost a decade developing within the organization.
"When the first game at Citi Field arrives, I will be able to describe what it means to be in the Major Leagues. I am learning a lot and very happy with this opportunity," he expressed.
