Indonesia announces end of search operation for Spanish minor still missing after shipwreck

Indonesian rescue teams ended the search operation on Friday for the remains of the child still to be recovered after the sinking on December 26 of a tourist boat in the waters of Komodo National Park, in which three members of his family died and two survived.

The mission's conclusion was announced by officials from Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS), which coordinated the extensive deployment, during a press conference in the city of Labuan Bajo.

The ships that have been searching the waters of Komodo National Park for fifteen days returned to port this Friday without finding the child who remains missing.

"We have searched in all areas, both in the water and on the coasts, where we believe the body could be, but, unfortunately, we have not found any trace," Budi Widjaja, who assists the missing person's family, told EFE.
