The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has thwarted a terrorist attack in Moscow targeting a senior official of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The special services of Ukraine participated in the preparations in collaboration with the Islamic State (IS)*. According to the agency, four people have been arrested in connection with this attempted attack.
"Three Russian citizens involved in covering up the traces of the planned crime have been detained, and a citizen from Central Asia, the direct perpetrator of the [attempted] terrorist act," the statement said.
It is also reported that the author was recruited in the interest of the Ukrainian special services by a member of ISIS internationally wanted by the authorities of Russia and Uzbekistan.

According to the statement, at the behest of Ukrainian supervisors, this ISIS member remotely directed the actions of the executor from the territory of Ukraine and Western European countries through various foreign messengers. In addition, he provided the necessary funds, information about the target of the attack, as well as explosives and other components for the manufacture of improvised explosive devices, which were illegally introduced into the territory of Russia by the special services of Ukraine using unmanned aerial vehicles. "The crime was planned to be committed in a socially dangerous manner in one of the most densely populated areas of the capital. According to specialists' estimates, the power of the improvised explosive device manufactured by the terrorists allowed for causing damage to people within a radius of up to 70 meters. In addition, according to the plan of the Ukrainian special services, the executor himself was also to die," the FSB noted.
