Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic Bar Association (CARD), presided by Trajano Potentini, announced this Friday its decision to withdraw any manifestation or document that supports the penitentiary benefit of semi-freedom or work permit granted to the lawyer Donny Santana by the Execution of Sentence judge of the Baní Court.
The measure responds to the repeated questioning and public criticism that the guild institution has received during the present week, after the disclosure of information related to the aforementioned benefit.
Potentini informed that the National Board of Directors of the CARD will be urgently convened next Monday, with the aim of designating a special commission in charge of thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding this process.

The president of the CARD recalled that, at the beginning of the week, the institution had informed about the possibility of collaborating on training issues for inmates of the penitentiary system, specifically in terms of training on procedural laws. However, he clarified that the contract circulating in the media differs substantially from that educational purpose, which motivated the decision to locate and thoroughly review the file. Likewise, Potentini pointed out that one of the directors of the College is listed as guarantor and supervisor of Santana in the sentence related to the case, with whom he held a meeting in order to advance and learn more details. During that meeting, Potentini informed that they agreed and ratified the possibility of working with the inmates, information that was explained in a press release and video previously released, in which the guarantor director explained the issue.
