Police dismantle gang dedicated to armed robberies in SDE

Santo Domingo.- The National Police reported that a criminal gang dedicated to committing armed assaults, extortion, and other illicit activities in the Los Frailes sector was dismantled, achieving the arrest of several of its members, linked to multiple robberies perpetrated in different sectors of Greater Santo Domingo. The detainees were identified as Cristhian Rafael Lara Romero, alias "El Don"; Miguel Ángel Sosa Cabrera, alias "La Greña" and/or "Chino"; Ismael María Burgos, alias "La Para"; Ángel Junior Jiménez, alias "Moreno"; and Manauri Manuel Ventura Peguero, alias "El Flaco", identified as the leader of the gang. According to investigations, Lara Romero acted as a taxi driver and allegedly transported the assailants on the day of the incident. Among the investigated cases is the one that occurred on November 24, 2025, when a citizen was intercepted by two hooded and armed individuals while in the parking lot of his residence, in the aforementioned sector. The antisocial individuals physically assaulted him and stripped him of clothing, watches, a legally permitted pistol, personal documents, vehicle smart keys, as well as the sum of RD$300,000.00 in cash.

According to the report, the attackers also tried to enter the victim's home, even firing a shot without managing to injure him, after which they fled. The detainees will be placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for the corresponding legal purposes, while investigations continue to locate other possible suspects and recover the other stolen belongings.
